My Autobiography :)

Hello, My name is Janelle I just turned 15 years old this month. I didn’t have a quince sadly.. but its all gooooddddd. I have a twin brother. I’m a very nice person, I like to laugh alot, I consider myself friendly. I like to be straight up with people, but people tend to take it the wrong way, but you know that’s just me. I like to go out with my friends to like parties, movies, or just somewhere so i wont have to be stuck at home cause we all know that’s boring haha. I have 3 brothers and 1 sister, 1 of my brothers actually goes to school with me but the others are younger except my sister she’s the oldest. I live with only my mom, which I love with all my heart because to me shes actually a strong, independent woman and I’m grateful for everything she has done for me and my brothers.                                                                                                                                                         My life before highschool was pretty much the same. I still hangout with the friends I did before. The only thing that changed is the work that i have to do and all the responsiblity I have now. Before I wouldnt really have to worry about homework or classwork because teachers didn’t really have us on check about it, but in highschool if you dont turn in your work or something your grade drops more than you expect it to, that’s why this year im trying to get better grades in my classes. Im pushing myself to finish up what I’m required to finish on time because honestly I procrastinate way too much. Other than that, im really looking foward to this class and also this school year.                                                                                                                                                  After highschool, I plan to go to a four year university, thats forsure. I still haven’t decided on what i want to do in life yet, but It obviously has to be something I like to do. Also, in the future I want to go skydiving and be on a hot air balloon! Then, once I save up enough money when I have my career I want to go visit all the places I’ve always wanted to visit in one year! Besides, all that I want to help my mom as much as I can like pay her bills for example, also I want to send money to the kids with cancer cause I don’t think they deserve that at ALL! its just sad, I wouldn’t know what to feel or do if I was in there position! But im glad they’re always thinking positive, and fighting it!:) .. Well yup this was a little something about me. Okay bye :)

Antigone Compare/Contrast Essay

Janelle Barboza

The story Antigone by Sophades is a conflict about a king named Creon and a girl named Antigone, Antigones brother Polyneices dies so she wants to barry him but Creon doesn't want to because of something he did, Antigone doesn't think its fair so she buries him herself, at the end they both end up paying the consequences. The conflicts between the characters are the results of both their similarities and their differences.

In Antigone, Creon and Antigone do have a difference because Antigone is more loyal to her family. She says, "Ismene, I am going to bury him. Will you come?"(Scene 2. 32). She tells her that even though she knows Creon doesn't want to bury him. Antigone doesn't think it's right for her brother not to be buried, so she's just going to do it herself. Also Antigone is loyal because in Scene 2 Creon is asking her questions about burying her brother and she confesses everything because of the Gods. Unlike Antigone, Creon is loyal to state, He didn't want to bury Polyneices because Eteocles didn't want to give up the throne even though thats what Oedipus had told them to do so Polyneices started a battle in his country. Creon says, "As long as I am king, no traitor is going to be honored"(Scene 1. 50). Creon is not loyal to his family because when he is talking about killing Antigone for breaking the law or making her suffer and Haemon is trying to convince him to not kill Antigone. Since Creon doesn’t like being told what to do or how to do things him and Haimon get into an argument and start insulting each other. This shows that Creon is not loyal to his family because he got angry with his son and he is willing to kill him.

One of the similarities Creon and Antigone have is pride. They both think that what they do is right. An example is she says, "I do. I deny nothing"(Scene 2. 59). This demonstrates her pride because they are asking her if she buried Polyneices and she doesn't deny anything because she believes the gods law is more important than Creons law. Another example that shows Antigones pride is when her and Creon are arguing she tells him that the only reason no one speaks up and is on her side is because the city is scared of him. Furthermore, An example that shows Creons pride is when he is talking to Tiresias, the blind prophet. Tiresias says,”And the Furies and the dark gods of Hell are swift with terrible punishment for you”(Scene 5. 82). It demonstrates his pride because Tiresias is warning him ahead of time, but Creon refuses to listen to him. Creon is paying to much attention on what he wants to do, so in the end karma gets him.

In conclusion, Antigone and Creon both share blame for the tragic outcome because of both of them having too much pride. Creon could have just allowed Antigone to bury her brother Polyneices but he didn't, which lead her to do it herself. Also, Creons pride caused his family members death because he didn't listen to Tiresias. Antigones pride caused her to suffer in the cave she was put at the end, which made her kill herself .
